Position Summary Information

General Information

James Madison University’s Facilities Management is seeking part-time Wage Recycling Workers for two different shifts. One shift is Monday – Friday and the other is Sunday – Thursday. Weekday hours are 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. and weekend hours are 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

Duties and Responsibilities

Pick up ground litter, sort recyclables and empty outdoor and indoor recycling from all campus locations.

Qualifications

Applicants must have the ability to drive safely and responsibly in a campus environment; ability to use a golf cart style vehicle and/or pick-up truck with mirror backing in tight, crowded spaces; demonstrated ability to lift 30-50 pounds repeatedly throughout shift; ability to work independently; ability to walk and be on your feet through most of a six hour shift; provide excellent customer service; be willing to handle various items of trash and have ability to work predominately outdoors in a variety of weather conditions. Applicants must be at least 19 years old with a valid driver’s license and must have possessed a valid driver’s license for a minimum of 24 months total.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

These are part-time wage positions working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
