Position Summary Information

General Information

James Madison University (JMU) is seeking applications on a continual basis for part-time housekeeping positions for various shifts and in various locations.

Applications will remain active through 11/15/2017 and applicants will be contacted as positions become available. Wage rate for day shift is $9.15/hour and night shift is $9.51/hour.

Duties and Responsibilities

Perform regular and special cleaning of assigned areas using manual tools and power equipment such as buffers, vacuums and auto scrubbers. Understand and practice all university safety procedures, particularly as they relate to equipment operation and chemical use. Participate in the university’s trash/recycling program.  

Qualifications

Consistent work history; experience performing a variety of cleaning tasks; ability to stand for extended periods of time; ability to operate buffers, scrubbers and waxers; ability to clean materials containing blood borne pathogens and ability to use strong chemicals to clean.

Condition(s) of Employment

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.

These are part-time wage positions working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.
