General Information

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at James Madison University invites applications for a tenure-track position in secondary mathematics education starting August 2018. The successful applicant will join a growing number of mathematics educators in the department. Collaboration with current mathematics education faculty in the department and in the College of Education is encouraged. The successful candidate will also work with the department’s M. Ed in mathematics program for practicing high school teachers.

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidate is expected to engage in teaching, research and service.

Qualifications

Candidates should be invested in the teaching and improvement of mathematics content courses for prospective middle and high school teachers. Candidates should have demonstrated research interests in PreK-12 mathematics education or mathematics teacher education. Candidates must have a doctoral degree in mathematics education by the time of the appointment; a master’s degree in mathematics or statistics and high school teaching experience are strongly preferred.
