Position Summary Information

General Information

The Shenandoah Valley Small Business Development Center (SV SBDC) serves established businesses and aspiring entrepreneurs with confidential business consultation, targeted training, and connections to local, state and national resources to help businesses in the central Shenandoah Valley succeed and grow.

The purpose of the Inclusive Entrepreneurship Initiative (IEI) is to develop and deliver services for entrepreneurial and business training to the diverse minority and immigrant population in the SV SBDC’s service region.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Participate in and assist IEI clients as they prepare business plans, financial projections, marketing plans, and other documents related to their needs within the SV SBDC scope of services.
2. Participate in and contribute to meetings between the IEI Advisor and clients.
3. Conduct research / surveys, quantitative and qualitative analysis for the IE Initiative
4. Participate in and contribute to IEI outreach activities.
5. Submit a monthly report of IEI activities to the IEI Advisor and the SV SBDC Director.
6. Participate in SV SBDC Team meetings as needed.
7. Enter client notes into the SBDC customer database.

Qualifications

1. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
2. Excellent computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office
3. Excellent written and oral communication skills
4. Strong customer service skills
5. Dependable and punctual
6. Previous experience in a confidential work environment is a plus.

COB junior/seniors preferred; international students are eligible for this position.
This job entails an average 5 hours/week for fall 2017 semester.

Conditions of Employment

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
