Position Summary Information

General Information

Join a diverse and collaborative team that that supports the professional development of JMU faculty. The Center for Faculty Innovation enhances the development of faculty members in the areas of teaching, scholarship/research, career planning, and academic culture. We are seeking a student that is ready to grow his/her professional skills in the areas of event management, program delivery, and data collection and research. The ideal candidate will have creative skills that contribute to the design, delivery, and evaluation of programming and assist the Operations team in the development of our marketing and social media presence to the JMU campus and nationwide.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with small and large scale events hosted by the CFI (manage participant registration, provide support to program facilitators, assist with set up and breakdown of rooms); provide administrative support to professional staff by collecting, filing, and recording monthly financial data; manage data collection for select programs; assist assessment coordinator with report design and research; copy, file, and scan as necessary. Assist staff with research projects as necessary. Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Intermediate Excel user with basic knowledge of statistics (demonstration of skills may be requested); work effectively with team members; ability to prioritize workload, manage time effectively and meet deadlines; familiarity with Windows and Mac platforms; prefer some experience with marketing and/or management of social media sites.

Conditions of Employment

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
