General Information

Due to increased enrollment at James Madison University and interest in the B.S. in Health Sciences degree, the Department of Health Sciences invites applications for five Assistant Professor positions starting August 25, 2018. The 10-month positions will be filled as tenure-track or renewable-term appointments (RTA).

Duties and Responsibilities

The successful candidates will be expected to teach assigned undergraduate courses within the Health Sciences program. Preference will be given to those candidates with university teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: population health determinants, biostatistics, infectious disease, chronic disease and disability, U.S. and global healthcare systems, health behavior change, environmental health, epidemiology, health research methods, and ethics and critical thinking in health.

Qualifications

Doctoral degree (earned by the start date) in public health, health sciences, health education and promotion, or related field is required.

Applicants holding CHES and/or CPH are preferred.

Candidates must possess a commitment to excellence in teaching, research and service. Potential for scholarly activity should be evident. Candidates must also demonstrate an appreciation for the undergraduate preparation of students for application to graduate studies in professional programs (e.g., public health, physician assistant, occupational therapy, physical therapy, medicine).
