General Information

The School of Music at James Madison University seeks an accomplished artist/teacher of voice (tenor) for a full-time, tenure-track position to begin fall 2018. We desire an exceptional musician, who is collaborative and eager to teach both undergraduate and graduate students skills for the 21st century.

The School of Music in the College of Visual and Performing Arts is a thriving program with more than 370 undergraduate majors and 70+ masters and doctoral students. The school has 47 full-time faculty, 30 professional staff and supportive positions, and produces more than 300 performances and presentations annually.

Duties and Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include teaching a studio of voice majors in all curricula (performance, education, music industry, etc.), recruiting and retaining a large and diverse studio, and maintaining an active portfolio of creative/scholarly and service activity. Secondary teaching responsibilities will include other voice-related courses depending upon the needs of the area and expertise of the candidate.

Qualifications

Qualifications include evidence of quality performances in a variety of settings, a record of successful teaching all voice types (collegiate teaching experience preferred), and a doctoral degree in music (ABD or professional equivalency will be considered).
