Position Summary Information

General Information

Part-time year-round Surplus Property Warehouse Specialist student employee needed to support various warehouse, campus, office, and customer service duties.

Duties and Responsibilities

Assist with pick up and deliveries of surplus items for JMU departments, check in items received at the Surplus warehouse using Access database, assist customers shopping at the warehouse and provide customer service, assist with storage of surplus items at the warehouse and loading items for external customers, assist with maintaining a clean and organized warehouse and maintenance of equipment, tag new equipment on campus, assist in preparation for sales online or at the warehouse, assist with periodic inventories of surplus items, and process and file surplus forms and documents. A reasonable amount of lifting is involved.


A valid driver’s license is required and ability to obtain forklift certification (provided by JMU).

Experience using Microsoft Excel, Access and Word is helpful.

Conditions of Employment

Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
