Position Summary Information

General Information

Outreach & Engagement (O&E) at James Madison University is accepting applications for a part-time PK-12 Engagement Assistant to support Outreach & Engagement with our youth programs. We currently offer programs throughout the year with a heavy emphasis on fall and summer programming. This includes day-long, and multi-day workshops in the fall, and week-long day-camps, as well as residential camps during the summer. This position will report to the PK-12 Engagement Coordinator. This position will assist with event planning, registration, marketing, and the implementation of PK-12 programs. Example programs to assist with include, but are not limited to, D.I.G.I.T.A.L, College for Kids, Space Explorers Camp, Summer Honors Camp, and Lego Robotics Camp.

Duties and Responsibilities

-Provide overall support to the PK-12 Engagement Coordinator in both program implementation and completion goals
-Assists with event planning, registration, and marketing for PK-12 programs
-Provide customer service to PK-12 students, parents, and other community visitors as needed
-Work with units across campus and community partners to efficiently and effectively operate PK-12 programs
-Assist in the over site of graduate assistants during day-long and residential camps
-Must be onsite when programs are launched and/or running


-Excellent client-facing communication skills
-Superior customer service and time management skills
-Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
-Experience working with youth programs or relevant work
-Must be able to work independently
-Must be available to work several Saturdays and/or summer weekdays to support programs
-Experience with Microsoft Office and Customer Relationship Management system (CRM)

Condition(s) of Employment

This is a part-time wage position working an average of 29 hours per week over the course of a calendar year with no benefits.

Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
